A future-ready SACCO fixes its core first, then opens channels, and adds AI where it has clean data to work on. Doing it in the other order is expensive.
Step one: a clean core on a cloud ERP
Members, deposits, loans and the ledger in one cloud system, with approvals and an audit trail. Without it, a mobile app only shows members the same untidy data faster. This is what SaccoFlow 365 on Business Central is for.
Step two: channels members actually use
Members in Kenya expect M-Pesa, a phone and a USSD code. A SACCO's channels need a gateway that authenticates members, limits risk and reaches the core safely, and then channels on top of it. In SaccoFlow 365 the gateway is built for PIN sign-in, one-time codes, device binding, transfers, loan repayment, loan applications, standing orders and statements. USSD and read-only SMS banking run on Africa's Talking, and M-Pesa deposits and withdrawals are built in and switched on after testing. A member web portal (internet banking) and a mobile app for Android and iOS are built on the same gateway, with sign-in, balances, statements, transfers, M-Pesa deposits and withdrawals, loan applications, standing orders, guarantor requests, joining the app and PIN reset. Both are in testing and are switched on for a SACCO after a pilot.
Step three: analytics
Once the data is clean and in one place, Power BI reports on membership growth, loan book quality, deposit mobilisation and liquidity are easy to build. The product includes KPI snapshots, member statistics and queries designed for Power BI.
Step four: AI where it earns its place
AI is not part of SaccoFlow 365 today. The useful places to look at first are:
- Reading and drafting: summarising a loan file, drafting member letters and demand notices.
- Questions over data: asking for the arrears by branch in plain language.
- Early warning: spotting members whose repayment pattern is slipping.
Microsoft is adding Copilot capabilities to Business Central, and partners build on Azure AI. Treat each use as a pilot with a measured result, and keep a person responsible for every decision that affects a member's money.
A sensible order of work
| Order | Work | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Clean the data and move to one core | Everything else reads from it |
| 2 | Set approvals, access and audit | Controls before volume |
| 3 | Open one channel, such as paybill receipts | Prove the gateway on a small scope |
| 4 | Add mobile banking and USSD | Reach members where they are |
| 5 | Reports in Power BI | Show the board the book |
| 6 | Pilot AI on one process | Measure before you scale |
SaccoFlow 365 is in preview and is introduced through a pilot with your data. To scope one, book a consultation.

Where should a SACCO start?
With a clean core on a cloud ERP, then one channel, then reports, then AI.
Is there a mobile app?
The mobile banking web service, the channels gateway, USSD and SMS banking are built. A member web portal (internet banking) and a mobile app for Android and iOS are built on the same gateway, with sign-in, balances, statements, transfers, M-Pesa deposits and withdrawals, loan applications, standing orders, guarantor requests, joining the app and PIN reset.
