The plan and the plant, in one ledger.
ManufacturingFlow 365 says what a batch should produce and what it should cost. MESFlow 365 records what actually happened, at the bench and on the machine. Both write to Business Central, so the variance is a report, not a reconciliation project.

The questions each app answers
| Question | ManufacturingFlow 365 answers | MESFlow 365 answers |
|---|---|---|
| What are we making? | Formula, batch size, expected yield, expected co-products and by-products | Which released order and operation is running now |
| What went in? | Ingredient lots, potency-adjusted quantities, dispensing | Materials the operator recorded against the operation |
| What came out? | Co-product, by-product and waste lines, cost allocation | Good and scrap quantity, run minutes, machine counter |
| Why did it stop? | Planned changeovers and cleaning rules | Downtime reason, from the operator or the machine |
| Who and what supplied it? | Lot genealogy and recall | Weighbridge ticket tied to the purchase order line |
| Was it worth it? | Price, mix, usage and yield variances; batch cost sheet | Operation log and the plant manager's Needs Attention list |
A real example
In our test run, an operator on the shop-floor terminal reports 58 litres of acid whey, the by-product of yoghurt, on production order 10119. ManufacturingFlow 365 knew the expected output; MESFlow 365 captured the actual and posted it. The output line then showed 58 as the posted quantity.
How they are packaged
They are two Business Central extensions from Software Dynamics. MESFlow 365 builds on ManufacturingFlow 365 to post co-products and by-products, so a plant that wants the shop-floor app installs both. A plant that only needs formulas, lots and costing can run ManufacturingFlow 365 on its own.
